The Immortals of New Orleans

From Page to Screen: My Journey Adapting Kym Grosso's Books into Movies

Introduction

Hey everyone, let me take you on a wild ride—from being a die-hard fan to diving headfirst into the world of adapting Kym Grosso's mesmerizing series into movies.

The Beginning

Back in 2018, I was knee-deep in Kym Grosso's books, completely immersed in the Immortals of New Orleans series. These stories weren’t just tales; they were like old friends I couldn’t get enough of. So, naturally, I did what any fan would—I reached out to Kym.

But here's the kicker: when I did, I found out that Hollywood had already come knocking. Yep, the series had been optioned by big-shot producers. You’d think that would've been the end of it, right? Not for this persistent soul.

The Persistence Pays Off

Fast forward, and the Hollywood contract expired. I saw an opportunity, and I pounced on it. Kym and I struck a deal, a shopping agreement that had me on the lookout for studios interested in bringing these incredible stories to life on screen.

But here's where it gets interesting—Kym’s team wanted to stick with the original producer and explore more options. So, I took a step back, played the waiting game, all while keeping those fingers crossed.

The Moment of Opportunity

Cue a couple of years later. Guess what? The stars aligned. The books were up for grabs, ready to transform into screenplays. And I? Well, I was ready to dive into the juicy task of adapting the first book, 'Kade's Dark Embrace.'

Getting to Work

Let me tell you, folks, this wasn’t just a project. It was a passion. I rolled up my sleeves, cracked open the book (figuratively, of course), and got down to the nitty-gritty of turning these captivating pages into a screenplay that could do justice to Kym's incredible storytelling.
